Learning About Wine

The more you know about something, the more pleasure it gives you.  This is true for everything from clothing to cars.  And it’s especially true of wine.

The big question is: just how hard is it to learn about wine?

Years ago, the answer was: very hard. There were no good wine classes anywhere in the country. Most wine articles were as captivating as cottage cheese. And many wine books were so convolutedly written you’d get a migraine trying to tell Marsanne from Marsannay. (The first is a grape; the second, a place).

Today, learning about wine has gotten easier. On my site–easiest of all. To me, wine is inherently exciting and fascinating. It makes you want to learn about it. Sometimes all you need (besides the real thing) is a good teacher who can explain things simply and well. That’s what this section is all about.

In months to come this section will be expanded.  Right now, you’ll find constantly updated questions about wine and the answers to them on Ask Karen.  And if you’d like to pose a question, please do.
